Ballet (Italian: balletto; French, English: ballet) is a European classical dance, and the most important feature of ballet is that the actress points her toes on the ground during performance, hence it is also known as pointe dance. Ballet is the use of music and dance techniques to perform dramatic plots.
Ballet was conceived during the Italian Renaissance in the 14th century and was born in the French court of Louis XIV in the late 17th century. It began to develop and become popular in France and gradually professionalized. In the 18th century, it became increasingly perfect in France, and by the end of the 19th century, it entered its most prosperous era in Russia. Ballet has had a great influence on countries around the world and has been widely spread throughout its nearly 500 year long history. It has become an art form that has been fully developed by countries around the world.
